My name is Mary, Founder of  F.L.I.P and I live in Fife. I`m  married  and have 2 beautiful grown up daughters. I have had an interest in the paranormal for as long as I can remember after having a few strange things happen around me over the years that I couldn`t explain.

I joined a paranormal group in May 2005 after I had just bought my first ever Digital Nikon Camera. The camera had picked up some strange orbs which at that time I knew nothing to as what they were so I found myself coming to a paranormal group called Scottish Paranormal to maybe find some answers…which I did thankfully.

I suddenly realised that I was sort of addicted to this paranormal group, coming into the site every single day and I now truly had the investigator bug. I  started to dig deeper into why strange phenomena  may happen at times and, before too long I became an SP Team Investigator, almost 4 years with SP has passed by so quickly it`s unreal. My knowledge was slowly growing and wanted to carry on investigating the paranormal. I left SP in April 2008 to follow my own path and become an Independent Investigator. With Scottish Paranormal changing owners and going a different route, I thought the time was right for me to move on…so here I am with F.L.I.P. ( Fife & the Lothians Investgates the Paranormal )…lets go!

Mary.

My name is Jim (Co-Founder of  F.L.I.P) and I have been interested in the paranormal for a good few years now. I’m married with 2 grown up daughters and now live in Fife after moving from Coatbridge many years ago.

My interest in the paranormal lead me to join a paranormal group called Scottish Paranormal back in May 2005 where I became an investigator after a year of coming in and out of the SP site reading up on certain topics that were available to me.

A few experiences that I have had made me want to find out more about the paranormal and some possible explanations for them. I have learned a lot since the day I joined that group but I feel there is still so much to learn and that’s why I’ll continue to investigate and try to find some answers. I know it won’t be easy though, as some see the paranormal field as a quick way to make money and they are not really into finding the truth like myself, this makes it very hard for the genuine groups and independent investigators who take this field seriously.

F.L.I.P is a place where I’ll be spending a lot of my time when I’m not out investigating so I hope to see you there at some point.

Hi, I am Mark, co-founder of F.L.I.P. Originally from Northern Ireland, but now living in Fife, Scotland, having spent many years travelling to Scotland and visiting many of the beautiful sites & locations Edinburgh and the surrounding areas have to offer.

I became interested in the paranormal six or seven years back, when a flip of a coin decided that my fiancée and I would take part in one of the many ghost tours Edinburgh had to offer. The tour of the Blair street vaults was fascinating, I was intrigued by the history, and I hung on ever word spoken by the excellent guide that Mercat tours had assigned us. My fiancée (Claire) had told me she could see shadows, and constantly told me she didn’t like it, but because I was so interested I was being stubborn, and didn’t want to leave the tour (must have been the Scottish-way setting in, I had paid good money for the tour). All too soon the tour was over, and we were led back to evening light and civilization. Shortly after this, as we made our way to our hotel, I felt something on my upper right arm, I lifted the sleeve of my (Ulster) rugby shirt and lo-and-behold, I had five scratch marks about 4 or five inches in length running down my arm from my shoulder, Claire of course stated under no circumstance we were to go back there, then she told me I had a red handprint on the left side of my neck.

That was me, I was hooked, what had caused this? Could I have brushed my arm against something, a stone or a rock without noticing? The bloody scratches said otherwise, they were too deep not to have felt. But I had to know. Over several other occasions I have visited the Vaults in Edinburgh’s Blair Street, and my experiences have ranged from those I mentioned above, to hearing the scream “Get OUT!!!”, the flapping and crowing of an unseen bird, just tied show laces coming undone and gurgled breath’s. To this day I still go on the tours – any chance to find out what caused it all, I still look for wires, speakers, tubes that air could blow out of to cause the drafts. I never have found the answers, but I know one thing…I will not rest until I know exactly what caused all those things.

Call me an “Open Minded sceptic”.

Mark
